Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg has been stripped of his MBE following his conviction for domestic abuse. An official notice in The Gazette, the UK's official public record, confirmed the honour was "cancelled and annulled" by order of King Charles.

Hogg, who received the honour in the 2024 New Year Honours for services to rugby union, pleaded guilty in November 2024 to a charge of domestic abuse against his estranged wife, Gillian Hogg. The abuse, which occurred between 2019 and 2024, involved shouting, swearing, tracking her movements, and sending alarming messages. In January 2025, he was sentenced to a one-year community payback order and a five-year non-harassment order.

The decision to revoke the honour follows a recommendation from the Honours Forfeiture Committee, which can remove an award if a recipient's actions are deemed to have brought the honours system into disrepute. The move came after public calls for the honour to be forfeited from prominent figures, including SNP Westminster leader Stephen Flynn.
