The United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon has reported that Israeli ground troops are making incursions into the country and erecting roadblocks, according to a Reuters report The development comes as Israeli military evacuation orders have expanded to cover a significant portion of southern Lebanon and parts of Beirut. According to the Norwegian Refugee Council, these orders now encompass approximately 1,470 square kilometres, or about 14% of Lebanon's total territory
The ongoing Lebanon-Israel conflict has resulted in a dire humanitarian situation. Since hostilities began on March 2, almost 700 people in Lebanon have been killed in Israeli attacks and over 800,000 have been displaced The conflict started after the Iran-backed group Hezbollah launched rocket strikes at Israel Israel's military states that its operations have targeted Hezbollah militants and Iranian forces within Lebanon
The Norwegian Refugee Council stated that Israel's mass evacuation orders have expanded into broad geographic directives that often demand immediate movement from civilians This has placed immense strain on the civilian population and humanitarian infrastructure. The increasing scope of both the evacuation orders and the reported ground incursions points to a volatile and deteriorating security situation along the border, raising concerns about regional stability.
