A Pakistani fisherman from Gwadar was killed on Saturday after his boat was struck by debris from an Israeli projectile that was intercepted by Iranian air defence systems in Iranian waters, Pakistani officials confirmed on Sunday
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Tayyab, a resident of Gannz, a coastal town in Balochistan’s Gwadar district. Gwadar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Naqibullah Kakar confirmed the death, stating that officials believe an attack was attempted on fishing boats in a coastal area of Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan province before the projectile was neutralized
"A portion of the debris from that drone or missile hit Tayyab’s fishing boat, resulting in his death," DC Kakar added District Police Officer Attaur Rehman also confirmed the incident, telling Dawn news agency that Tayyab had gone into Iranian waters to procure Iranian oil This Gwadar fisherman death highlights the increasing risk to non-combatants amid heightened military activity in the region. The fisherman’s body was transported back to his hometown of Gannz for burial
